Our mobile devices contain data on every aspect of our lives, including private information, like credit card numbers and addresses. It’s essential that we keep our information secure and our devices protected. That’s why, at Power Up, we prioritize device security in all of our equipment.
Power Up Safely
With reports of “juice jacking” on the rise, it’s understandable that you might be worried about safety when charging your devices on the go. “Juice jacking” occurs when a device is plugged into a USB port or computer system that has been tampered with. For your data to be captured, the port needs to have internet connectivity.
This situation does not extend to charging equipment like Power Up’s. Our hubs are designed only to provide power; the ports do not connect to Wi-Fi or the Internet. Users’ devices are not at risk for harm via the charging equipment itself or any other device that is using the charger.
How it Works
Power Up equipment is a safe, reliable way to recharge your devices. Our products are designed with security in mind to protect your devices and give you peace of mind. None of our charging equipment will ever ask users to unlock their phone or click to “trust” the charging source, as it would when plugging into a computer or other device.
Take our Charging Trailers for example. They are made with Dedicated Charging Ports(DCP), which can only send power through the cable – meaning no information can be transferred. The trailer cannot receive data from your phone, nor can it send any data to your phone. Similarly, our Charging Lockers have completely separate interfaces for locking and charging mechanisms. User devices cannot access the charging mechanism and vice versa.
Data cannot be shared between devices plugged into the equipment, either. If multiple devices are using a charging hub, you are not at risk from any other devices that are plugged in at the same time.
We’re Here For You
Our commitment to keeping communities connected includes safety. Power Up has no concerns that the charging ports on our trailer or any other charging devices could be hacked or used maliciously. If you have any questions regarding safety around our charging technology, please do not hesitate to contact us.
